Interesting projects - finding the fun amongst the challenge of creating business.

“We wanted to be involved in interesting and challenging projects. Invest a lot in research and experimentation. Take risks. Be very critical of our own work, never be satisfied, and always push it further. Also, to have fun while working”.

Lizá Ramalho, co-founder R2, Porto. (Studio Culture, Brook & Shaughnessy, 2009, p180)

I mean, who doesn't want to be involved in interesting projects?

Making every project interesting is key for me and, one of the main reasons why so many of us want to work for ourselves - but many times I've found ways to make seemingly dull or limited projects full of excitement and opportunities to challenge a client or audience to think differently about something that might have become stagnant or invisible to them.

Looking for the best, most creative solutions comes naturally and I always seek to drive to learn, develop and find new and unique ways forward and this is the key way to drive any creative forward whether it's branding or messaging or copy or whatever - looking for the new sparks and the opportunities and this is some of the most important stuff when I'm working with a creative partner that I can impart into the relationship.

Like, you called me because you know there's something I can do that you can't for whatever reason, and I often feel it's some form of differential thinking right? So we work to find that spark - and on occasion I'm railing against the tried and tested, the safe, tried and tested method because there's another way - but we're working together to build understanding and shared knowledge about why we are going the way we are.

This is why I say partners, I don't call you client, I don't come in and do everything for you - because you have to carry the thing - there's no point me rocking up and telling you how I can make your world a better place but giving you no explanation or context for what that is or how to navigate it.

A business relationship or creative partnership, should be just that, spending time understanding each other's worlds and getting the most out of the experience in order to produce ideas and directions which take you to new and different planes, create new business, deepen your engagements and work for everybody involved.

That's why we push harder, we're never satisfied, we take risks and make sure we try and have fun too!

If you’re looking for something different when it comes to your branding, design, marketing or whatever, why dontcha give us a holler, I'm here for y’all!
